Philip Purser
Philip Purser (1925-2022) wrote novels and screenplays while working as a television critic, most notably doing a twenty-six year stint for the Sunday Telegraph. Among his half dozen books were thrillers with appealing antiheroes - more Graham Greene than John Buchan, as one critic described them - and the drama-documentary The One and Only Phyllis Dixey, which celebrated the woman known as ‘Britain’s queen of striptease’. He was married for sixty-five years to the crime writer Ann Purser.
