Sîan Hughes

Sîan Hughes won several prizes, including the Seamus Heaney Award, for her first poetry collection, The Missing. She is also a playwright, teaches creative writing, and runs a choir for people affected by homelessness and addiction. Pearl (Indigo Press) is her first novel, a contemporary story of love and loss, inspired by events in the Cheshire village where she grew up and where she still lives, and by the medieval poem Pearl, from the same manuscript as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. It may turn out to be the first of a trilogy. Pearl was longlisted for the 2023 Booker Prize for Fiction.
