Hachette Children’s Group has acquired world rights in a terrific YA dark academia thriller by debut author Lauren Willmore. Ink and Shadows will be published in September under the Tempest imprint. Michael Wood‘s short story Waiting, from the Criminal Pursuits: This Is Me collection published by Telos, has been shortlisted forthe CWA’s 2026 Short Story Dagger Award. This good news comes against a backdrop of impressive sales of Michael’s Matilda Darke and Olivia Winter series over the last two years.
A Case of Life and Limb, the second novel in the already much acclaimed and prize-winning new detective series The Trials of Gabriel Ward by Sally Smith, has been shortlisted for the CWA’s 2026 Historical Dagger award.
Secrets of the First School, the fifth and final instalment in the very successful Edinburgh Nights series by T L Huchu, has been published in hardback, e-book and audiobook by Tor. A paperback edition will be published in July.
