Autumn news: deals, deals, deals!
To celebrate the last burst of summer, we’re pleased to announce a whole raft of deals from across the agency.
Having recently been appointed to represent the Estate of H R F (“Harry”) Keating, author of the immortal Inspector Ghote books amongst many others, we’re delighted to say that Severn House will be republishing 21 titles featuring the genial and incorruptible Bombay detective, to go with the 4 books that are available as Penguin Modern Classics. Even more exciting, Harry’s widow Sheila discovered a whole set of notes for an unwritten Ghote novel, which the publisher hopes will be completed by a celebrity author.
Amanda Ridout, ex-M.D of HarperCollins and Head of Zeus, has recently set up her own publishing house, Boldwood Books. She was urgently looking for a brilliant new historical novelist, and she has found her in our own Eleanor Porter, who she has signed up for two books featuring the spirited and articulate young Martha Dyneley, accused of witchcraft by her fellow villagers in the time of the first Queen Elizabeth, a period of change, challenge, and confusion not unlike our own.
Severn House have also commissioned more books in Cora Harrison’s popular crime series featuring the Reverend Mother Aquinas in Cork in the 1920s, and another in her latest crime series in which the celebrated Victorian writers Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins pair up to solve murders that baffle Scotland Yard.
The History Press have snapped up the true-life mystery by Tracy Spaight and Andy Brockman, who investigate the extraordinary story of a large number of brand-new Spitfires that were supposedly buried in Burma at the end of the Second World War. The attempt to find these iconic planes made headlines around the world, and our authors peel away every layer of this modern myth until they get to the uncomfortable truth.
Debut author Georgia Kane has been signed up by Canelo Publishing for two psychological suspense novels, and, last but very much not least,Lindsey Miller’s eye-opening account of her time living in North Korea is to be published as a lead title next year by September Publishing.
Many congratulations to all our authors!
