London Book Fair 2018 - pre-fair agency news 3: Georgette Heyer renews with Arrow Books
In our final news update before LBF ‘18 kicks off tomorrow, we have news of the Ampersand Agency’s biggest ever deal.
We are delighted to announce that the bestselling novels of Georgette Heyer will continue to be published by Arrow Books, part of Penguin Random House UK, with whom we have just negotiated a new ten-year licence for Heyer’s Regency novels. A seven-figure advance will be paid for British Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada.
We are confident that Arrow’s plans to begin a programme of cover reissues will entice new readers to enter Heyer’s captivating world, as well as enchanting her loyal fans, generations of whom have enjoyed her writing ever since she published her first bestseller in 1921, when she was 19.
Ampersand will be at the London Book Fair all three days, at table 16b in the IRC, and our colleagues from the Buckman Agency will be at table 17a. We have a number of outstanding books we will be pitching across a wide variety of genres, and who knows - maybe one of them will turn out to be the next Georgette Heyer. We certainly hope so!
